COMPOSING DIFFERENCES
Composing Differences is a long-term project in which Dejan Srhoj and his collaborators explore the potential of practices in contemporary dance that address the theme of the coexistence of differences.

Through score-work, dance improvisations, the sharing of dance and choreographic practices, and various educational and performance formats, he develops choreographic principles that relate to community. Dejan’s work is unique in the Slovenian and broader context, as it creates conditions for long-term living within a community, collective growth, and exchange – something that contrasts with the usual dynamics of contemporary dance work, which is predominantly project-based. The collaborative process opens up themes such as the function and place of contemporary dance in our everyday lives, the aesthetics that emerge from interpersonal relationships, and the boundaries and spaces between so-called amateur and professional artistic production.

So far, Dejan and his team have created several performances and public events, including Choreographic Sketch for Edvard, a collaboration with Marko Jevtić and Dragana B. Stevanović within the Kondenz Festival in Belgrade, Leaning within Cofestival’s Open Studio, collaboration with Neforma, and others.
